From his Bows & Arrows to his Boats & Fishing rods, Richard Korte makes it all.
Richard is currently in the process of making 18 recurve bows, 7 of which will go to the summer Burn Camp sponsored by the Traditional Bowhunters of Washington.
“I’ve always liked woodworking projects since my dad showed me how things work in his basement woodworking shop. We didn’t have a lot of extra money, so my dad made a lot of the furniture in our home, a camper for his ‘39 Chevy pickup, and lots of outdoor projects for our yard in Spokane. I started making hunting and fishing items, boats, fly rods, some furniture, and a canopy for my little Ford Ranger pick-up when in high school and college.
I started carving duck decoys when a friend gave me a set of carving tools and expanded into Northwest Coast Indian masks and some fish replicas. I began making bows and arrows around the year 2000 and have been doing that ever since. I also have made 7 or 8 wooden boats and several pieces of western furniture in the style of Thomas Molesworth of Cody Wyoming in the 1920’s and 30’s.” -RKK
It was an honor and a privilege to enter the shop with this incredible human. Love spending the day with people who are passionate about what they do, if you or something you know has an interesting hobby/ work let’s get connected!
